Why does my computer not show up in the "Computers" list when I open uRemote on my device?
If you cannot seem to find your computer in the uRemote "Computers" list, there are a few things you can try. Ensure that you are running the uRemote Manager application on the computer you are trying to control. Also, ensure that both your iPhone or iPod Touch and the target computer are connected to the same WiFi network. uRemote communicates over WiFi only, so there must be an active WiFi connection present on both the computer and the device.
I've successfully connected to my computer using uRemote, but some of the buttons don't work, what can I do to fix this?
On some systems it may be required that you enable keyboard access for assistive devices. To do this, open System Preferences and click on "Universal Access". Click the checkbox for "Enable Keyboard Access for Assistive Devices",

Also, uRemote uses keyboard shortcuts for many of it's actions. If you are experiencing trouble with any actions, please ensure that the application you are controlling is set to use the default keyboard shortcuts.

Finally, ensure that you have the most recent versions of any programs you are trying to control using uRemote.
Why do the "next" and "previous" buttons in VLC skip the entire movie when playing a DVD?
The default action for "next" and "previous" buttons both in the VLC on screen controls and in uRemote are next/previous playlist item. If you would like to remap them to next/previous chapter, you must modify the VLC keyboard shortcuts for these operations manually by accessing the "Hotkeys" tab in VLC Preferences.
